Resident Evil 4

Finally! At long last! Resident Evil 4 has come to the Playstation 2. Ok, this isn’t such new news since it’s released in Australia since November 4th, 2005, but nevertheless, it’s still worth a mention because it’s an absolutely fabulous game!

I often say that there are some games that are worth buying a console for, God of War certainly fell into this category, and now we have another game to add to the list, Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 4, or RE4, was first released as a GameCube exclusive title. If I had known back then what I know now, I would’ve bought a GameCube just for this game.

The PS2 version does have some bits that makes it a little more special than the GameCube version. The makers have included Ada’s part of the story as a separate mini-game to show what Ada had been up to while Leon was off doing saving our ever lovable (or not) Ashley.

RE4, along with God of War, is definitely a games that shows the power of the PS2. The graphics are beyond stunning/gorgeous/beautiful/masterful. The music and sound effects are absolutely perfect. Game play is a true joy, no sticky, confusing or complicated controls. The AI and enemies in the game is very varied and never boring and I never once found anything annoying in this game and nothing ever felt “samey”.

My favourite part of the games are the bad dudes. This time they’re not zombies but parasite infested and controlled humans. I love them because they have some delightful “attack” lines in Spanish. My favourite of all is “matalo!”, which means “kill him!”

Overall, it’s truly an amazing experience and I highly recommend that you beg, steal, borrow or buy this game, and a Playstation 2 if you don’t already have one!
